Nebraska lost its 12th straight game to Arizona State, the longest losing streak to a single opponent in program history...the Huskers fell to 2-3 this season vs. ranked teams...Arizona State was the first ranked team Nebraska has faced that was outside the top 10...Alicia Armstrong committed her first error of the season at shortstop after opening the year with no errors in the first 18 games.

Tempe, Ariz. - The 23rd-ranked Nebraska softball team was unable to knock off a second ranked opponent on Friday, as the Huskers were shut out in a 6-0 loss at No. 21 Arizona State.

Nebraska fell to 13-5 with the loss, which followed the Huskers' upset of No. 9 James Madison in their first game Friday. Three of Nebraska's five losses this season have been to ranked opponents, including a pair of setbacks to top-10 teams.

Senior right-hander Emily Lockman (4-1) suffered her first loss of the season, allowing four runs (two earned) in 4.0 innings. Sophomore right-hander Kaylan Jablonski tossed the final 2.0 innings and allowed a pair of runs.

Offensively, Nebraska managed only five hits - singles by seniors Kiki Stokes, Mattie Fowler and Dawna Tyson and sophomores Austen Urness and Jablonski. The Huskers were out-hit 10-5, while four of Arizona State's 10 hits were infield singles.

Arizona State took command of the game by scoring four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Sun Devils plated the game's first run on consecutive doubles. An error and a single then loaded the bases before a wild pitch, an RBI single and an RBI ground out capped the four-run frame.

ASU stretched its lead to 6-0 with a pair of solo home runs in the bottom of the fifth in what proved to be the final runs of the game.

Kelsey Kessler (8-3) earned the win by tossing her fourth shutouts in 10 starts this season. Kessler did not allow a Husker to reach third base, as she helped Arizona State move to 19-5 on the year.

Nebraska returns to action tomorrow with a pair of games. The Huskers face James Madison in their first game of the day before taking on Ohio State in a non-conference matchup.
