On March 9th, Nebraska Life Skills hosted a group of elementary and middle school students for The Next Step field trip, a component of Nebraska's Diversity and Inclusion initiatives. Students were shown around campus and given a tour of Memorial Stadium.
The highlight of the outing was an intimate question answer session with three Nebraska Football Players. David Knevel, a junior offensive lineman from Brantford, Ontario, spoke about his journey to Nebraska and the many demands of his busy schedule. Freedom Akinmoladun, a sophomore defensive end from Grandview, Missouri, talked about his hectic but manageable 18 credit hour class load. Dwayne Johnson, a junior offensive lineman from Houston, Texas, encouraged the students to be respectful and mindful of the importance of education. The students enjoyed asking the football players a wide range of questions about school, football, and how they manage their time. There were smiles all around!
