Student-Athletes "Mix It Up"

Our student-athletes at Nebraska come from far and wide. Meeting new people can be a challenge, especially when you have the time demands of a Division I student-athlete. This does not diminish the desire to meet new friends and maintain a social life. Often, our student-athletes get the opportunity to know the individuals on their team, but may not have a chance to meet fellow student-athletes on other teams.

This year the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) sub-committee on diversity and inclusion organized an event to help our student-athletes “Mix it Up”. With the great support of Lewis Training Table staff, our student-athletes spent time over a special dinner learning about each other.

Esther "echerry" Ramacieri (pictured above), a junior guard on the Nebraska Women’s Basketball team from Repentigny, Quebec, provided music for the evening. Guided by thought-provoking questions, student-athletes struck up conversations with members from other teams. With the backdrop of smooth house music and conversations about family traditions and stories of “back home”, new friendships were forged.
