Husker to Play in 2017 Frisco Baseball Classic

On Thursday morning Peak Sports MGMT announced that the Nebraska baseball team will be one of four teams that will complete in the inaugural Frisco College Baseball Classic, which will take place in Frisco, Texas, in March of 2017. The three-day event will also include Arkansas, Arizona and Oklahoma State, and will be played at  Dr. Pepper Ballpark, home of the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, the Frisco RoughRiders.

The Huskers battled the Cowboys an annual basis when NU was part of the Big 12 Conference and most recently the two teams met at the TD Ameritrade Classic in 2013.

Arkansas is led by former Nebraska head coach Dave Van Horn, and the teams have met eight times since Van Horn left for Fayetteville following the 2002 season.

Nebraska and Arizona met earlier this season in San Diego at the Tony Gwynn Classic, with the Wildcats prevailing in 11 innings, 11-10.

Among the four teams there are over 9,300 wins, over 700 MLB draft picks, 119 NCAA postseason appearances, 46 College World Series appearances and five National Championships.

It is the goal of the Frisco Classic to bring in the nation’s top teams in order to provide unparalleled entertainment and competition for the both the fans and athletes.  Peak Sports MGMT has partnered with the Frisco RoughRiders, the City of Frisco and the Frisco Chamber of Commerce in order to make this an event that will bring collegiate baseball fans into the Frisco area from surrounding states as well as surrounding cities and communities.
