Nebraska men’s gymnast, Anton Stephenson, was named Co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, earning his third conference honor of the season. Stephenson won the award the week of Feb. 29 and the week of Jan. 25. This week, the Fishers, Ind., native shares the honor with Ohio State’s Alec Yoder.
Stephenson claimed two event titles on floor and vault, and the all-around title, at the Arnold Classic on March 5 in Columbus, Ohio. He broke his personal-best scores on floor (15.70), still rings (14.40), vault (15.25) and in the all-around (88.90), breaking the school record in the all-around.
In addition to breaking the school record in the all-around, Stephenson helped the Huskers break three team records, including total score (437.00), pommel horse (73.15) and vault (74.20). Additionally, NU posted season-high scores on still rings (71.25) and parallel bars (72.60) at the Arnold Classic.
Stephenson currently ranks in the Top 20 nationally in floor (17T), parallel bars (18) and in the all-around (9).
Stephenson and the Huskers are back in action on March 11 when the team travels to State College, Pa., for a Big-Ten matchup with the Penn State Nittany Lions.
