Huskers Shoot for National Title

The No. 8 Nebraska rifle team will close out its season this weekend, as it travels to Akron, Ohio, for the 2016 NCAA Championships on March 11-12. NU will be joined by Alaska-Fairbanks, Kentucky, Murray State, Ohio State, TCU, Air Force and West Virginia.

Smallbore individual and team competition will take place on Friday, March 11, beginning at 9:45 a.m. (CT). Smallbore individual finals will follow at 2:00 p.m. (CT). On Saturday, air rifle individual and team competition will kick off at 9:45 a.m. (CT), with finals starting at 1:00 p.m. (CT). The following individuals will be competing for the Huskers: Denise Martin, Magdalena Mical, Jaycee Carter, Rachel Martin and Nina Radulovic.

This is Nebraska’s fourth consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championships.  Last season, Rachel Martin took home the individual smallbore title, while the team finished fourth, the program’s best finish since 2008.

The Huskers finished the regular season with a record of 8-6. In the postseason, the team placed second at the its NCAA qualifying site on Feb. 21 and earned sixth place at the GARC Championships on Feb. 26-28.

Relay #1: Competition: 10:15 a.m. - Noon

Relay #2: Competition: 12:45 - 2:30 p.m.

Individual Finals: Competition: 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 12: AIR RIFLE FINALS at 2 p.m. ET

8:30 a.m. ET | Doors open

Relay #1: Competition: 10:15 - 11:30 a.m.

Relay #2: Competition: 12:15 - 1:30 p.m.

Individual Finals: Competition: 2:30 - 3:45 p.m.
