Huskers Open March in Arizona

Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Nebraska men's golf team travels to Scottsdale, Ariz., on Saturday for the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate at the Desert Mountain Club's Outlaw Course, March 5-6.

Joining NU at golf legend Jack Nicklaus’ par-72, 7,107-yard creation will be Marquette, host Michigan, Pacific, Pepperdine, Purdue, St. Mary’s, San Francisco, Santa Clara, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Saturday will consist of two rounds, with the first round beginning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Sunday’s final round will start with tee times off holes one and eleven at 9:30 a.m.

Representing the No. 1 spot in the lineup will be Mike Colgate. The junior recorded a first round 75 followed by a pair of 73s at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate en route to a 25th place finish.

Justin Jennings will represent the No. 2 spot for the Huskers. Jennings fired the best round for NU at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate with a second round 72.

The No. 3 spot will be represented by freshman Jackson Wendling. Wendling is coming off his lowest 54-hole score this season after firing a 229 in California.

Sean Song is set to tee of for his seventh stroke-play competition, having competed in every tournament as a freshman. Song has compiled a 76.31 stroke average over 16 rounds and will be the No. 4 spot in Nebraska’s lineup.

Jace Guthmiller will also travel to Arizona to represent NU in the No. 5 position. The freshman has a 77.55 stroke average over 11 rounds.
