On how much more comfortable the team is after being with the current coaches for a year
“I feel like it’s a lot more comfortable. Just comfortable with the fact that we know what to expect going on this spring, so I feel like we’re a lot more comfortable now. It’s a lot more fine-tuning and perfecting that needs to be going on.”
On what he’s been doing in the offseason
“I watched a lot of film downstairs….one of the biggest things for me is just understanding the offense in my position. I’m learning a lot – different blocking schemes, different defensive schemes, just knowing everything that’s going on all over the field, not just my personal play.”
On the running-back competition
“There’s always been competition since I got here, from day one. The No. 1 spot, the No. 2 spot, so I mean I feel like the room is always going to be. There’s always going to be competition. It only gets us better and I feel like we feed off that.”
On being a senior
“It’s crazy. I was talking to the other seniors like it feels like we just got here. It’s already my last year, my last go around. It goes by fast. It gives me a little fuel, knowing it’s my last spring practice and my last year. I just have to get the most out of everything I do.”
On ending the 2015 season with a win
“I feel like it really sparked us, going into the offseason. I feel like we played our best ball going into the end of the season, so definitely gave us a lot of momentum coming in.”
On being from Los Angeles and beating UCLA
“Yeah, I had a lot of fun with it. I talked to some of those guys on the UCLA team and kind of rubbed it in a little bit, but it felt good.”
On establishing a running game
“We definitely have seen what we’ve been able to do when we get the running game established. Just all over the board, I think we played a great game in the UCLA game. Tommy [Armstrong Jr.] did real well, so I think [the running game] is definitely one of the things we want to establish in the spring. ”
On his confidence with offensive line
“I feel real confident that they’ll be able to go out and execute. Since I got here, we’ve had a great offensive line every year, so I have no doubt in my mind that they’ll be able to go out and execute. Coach is at the right hand so I definitely feel that they’ll be able to go out there and do their job.”
