NU Competes at National Sports Festival

The Nebraska men’s gymnastics team (5-6, 0-3) continues a streak of away meets this weekend, when it travels to Columbus, Ohio, for the Arnold Classic. The Huskers will compete at on March 5 at 12:30 p.m. This is a change from the previously announced 2 p.m. start time.

The Arnold Classic, also known as the Arnold Sports Festival, is a four-day event, where athletes from all across the country come to compete in a number of different sports and events. The gymnastics portion of the festival will feature more than 4,000 competitors, both men and women, but the Huskers will specifically be competing against Ohio State and Iowa. In addition to holding the event in the United States, the Arnold Sports Festival extends its reach to Australia, Brazil, Europe and Africa later in the year. LAST TIME OUT:

The Huskers are coming off a third-place finish against Iowa and Penn State on Feb. 27. Ethan Lottman and Kyle King each claimed an individual event title in the triangular meet. Lottman placed first on pommel horse and King tied for first on floor.

IN THE RANKINGS:

King and Lottman are both ranked in the Top 20 nationally. King comes in at No. 5 on floor, while Lottman is tied for fifth on pommel horse. The duo is joined in the Top 20 by Anton Stephenson and Austin Epperson.  Stephenson, is ranked 12th in the all-around and tied for 18th on parallel bars and Epperson is tied for 15th on floor. As a team, NU ranks No. 7 in the CGA Poll and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll.
