Lincoln - The Nebraska women's tennis team earned its first national ranking of the 2016 season coming in at No. 69 among Division I women's tennis teams. The last time the Huskers were ranked was spring 2015 when they secured the No. 64 position.
Nebraska currently posts an 11-1 record for its spring season, with 50 wins overall in singles action and 24 in doubles. The Huskers' only loss came to No. 32 Wichita State (6-1).
The Big Red begins Big Ten Conference action Wednesday against the Iowa Hawkeyes at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center at 3 p.m. Then the team then the road to face No. 52 Purdue at 9:30 a.m. in West Lafayette, Ind., on Saturday, March 5.
