Lincoln- Claire Reifeis is the newest commit to the 2016 Nebraska women’s tennis team. Reifeis, a native of Indianapolis, Ind., will join the Husker program as a freshman this coming August. Presently a four star athlete and ranked No. 94 in the nation, Reifeis turned down offers from Drake, Cincinnati, Davidson, Denver and the University of Richmond to become a member of the Husker team.
Reifeis will join four other freshmen on the fall roster for the Big Red. Along with Jeannie Lozowski (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.), M'Balia Bangoura (Bradenton, Fla.), Hayley Haakenstad (Chanhassen, Minn.) and Emma Worley (Northville, Mich.), Reifeis will help replace the loss of Nebraska's three seniors Maggy Lehmicke, Mackenna Maddox-Herr and Lauren Wagner. The combined aspect of balanced leadership from upperclassmen and fresh talent of new recruits spells good things for the 2016-17 program.
“Claire is going to be a phenomenal addition to our program. She has a tremendous college game, hits a really big ball and has a great mindset. We were really impressed with her temperament when we watched her compete this summer,” Coach Jacobson said. “Not only will she benefit us on the singles court, but the doubles court as well. We are not only getting a tremendous tennis player, but a wonderful person as well.”
