Husker Pair Earns Conference Honors

Oxford, Miss. --- The Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) announced its annual award winners and all-conference teams on Friday night at the Awards Banquet as part of the GARC Championship Weekend. Senior Denise Martin and junior Rachel Martin each earned conference honors. 

Denise Martin was honored in each of the three categories. The Chewelah, Wash., native earned honorable mention in smallbore, air rifle and the two combined. This is Martin's third consecutive season earning All-GARC honors.  In 2015, Martin earned second-team (smallbore) and honorable mention (combined).  In 2014, Martin was named honorable mention (smallbore). 

Rachel Martin earned a spot on the second team in smallbore and combined. Last season, the Peralta, N.M., native was named to the second team in all three categories. R. Martin was also the Nebraska recipient for the scholar-athlete award.  

Regular-season rankings were also announced at the banquet. Nebraska placed third in the conference behind West Virginia and Kentucky.
