IOWA CITY, IOWA --- Nebraska had two gymnasts claim individual titles in its triangular meet against conference-opponents Iowa and Penn State on Saturday afternoon. Senior All-American Ethan Lottman placed first on pommel horse, while sophomore Kyle King tied for first on floor. As a team, the Huskers took third with a total score of 423.300. The Hawkeyes claimed first place (431.150), while the Nittany Lions took second (424.000).
Nebraska started the triangular on pommel horse, with senior Ryan Irick kicking things off for the Huskers with a score of 13.55. King followed with 12.95. Antonio Castro tied his personal-best score of 14.50, while Anton Stephenson pitched in a 13.55. Lottman was the final competitor and proved his All-American status posting a 15.45. The team finished with a score of 70.00 on the event.
The team moved to rings, where the it earned the highest score this season (70.45) on the event. Joshua Everitt started the Huskers off strong, shattering his career-high score by more than one point. Everitt and Austin Epperson both posted scores of 14.45. Irick and Stephenson each earned a 13.85 for their routines. Alex Magsam led the Huskers on the event, receiving a 14.50. Daniel Leal pitched in a 13.20.
The Huskers continued their impressive run on floor this season earning a team score of 74.15. King, who broke the school record on the event earlier in the season, led the team with a 15.35. Connor Adamsick broke his career-best score with a 15.00. Stephenson and Epperson added scores of 14.90, while senior All-American Sam Chamberlain finished with a 14.00.
NU was in second place halfway through the meet, trailing Iowa by just under three points and having a slight advantage over Penn State.
On parallel bars Stephenson and Epperson posted 14.70 and 14.30, respectively. Zymball set a new personal-best score with 13.35. Leal's routine earned him a 13.90, while Chamberlain added a 13.85. The team finished with a score of 70.10 on the event.
The Huskers moved to high bar, where Castro led the team with his score of 14.15.
Epperson pitched in a 13.65. Lottman earned a 13.45, while Leal added a 13.35. Stephenson overcame a fall to finish with a 12.40. As a team, Nebraska score 67.00 on high bar.
Nebraska finished the day on vault. Stephenson paved the way for the Huskers with a 14.80, while King and Chamberlain posted a 14.70 and 14.55, respectfully. Magsam earned a 14.40 and Adamsick pitched in 13.15. NU finished with a team vault score of 71.60.
Stephenson was Nebraska's only all-around competitor. The freshman from Fishers, Ind., placed third with a score of 84.20.
