Palm Desert, Calif. - The Nebraska men’s golf team is in 19th place after carding a 306 in the second round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate at The Classic Club on Saturday.
Mike Colgate finished the second round with a one-over-par 73. Colgate is tied for 23rd after the second day at 148 strokes. The junior is also tied for first in par-3 and par-5 scoring for the tournament, with a 2.75 and 4.38 stroke average, respectively.
Justin Jennings fired the best score for NU on Saturday by carding an even-par 72. Jennings is tied for 27th at 149 strokes heading into Sunday’s final round.
Freshman Jackson Wendling is tied for 84th after carding 79 in the second round. Wendling has a 156-stroke total heading into the final round. Sean Song is one stroke behind Wendling after posting an 82 on Saturday. Song is tied for 90th.
Freshman Jace Guthmiller carded an 84 on Saturday and is in 114th place at 167 strokes. Kansas still leads the competition at 575 strokes.
The third and final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate will begin Sunday morning with a 9:00 a.m. (CT) shotgun start. Live stats will be available on golfstat.
