Huskers Fifth After First Day at Warhawk Invite

Kenosha, Wis. – The second-ranked Nebraska bowling team went 4-1 with a total pinfall of 4,930 Friday, but trails four teams in the standings after the first day of the Warhawk Invitational at Sheridan Lanes in Kenosha, Wis.

Fifth-ranked Central Missouri leads the field with a pinfall of 5,103, followed by Adelphi (4,988), McKendree (4,981) and Stephen F. Austin (4,953) after Friday’s five-game Baker format matches.

The Cornhuskers (73-27) won their first two matches of the day against St. Francis (Pa.) and Central Missouri, before falling to McKendree in the third match. NU rebounded with wins over Valparaiso and Adelphi to finish the day’s competition.

The Huskers will return to action Saturday for five traditional matches with play set to begin at 8:35 a.m. NU will take on hosts Wisconsin-Whitewater in the opening match. Friday and Saturday’s combined results will determine the seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play tournament to determine a champion. Sunday’s action is set to begin at 8:30 a.m.
