The seventh annual Networking Night was held on Wednesday, Feb.17th providing second year student-athletes the chance to network with 17 outstanding professionals from diverse fields. The hosts included accomplished professionals, business leaders and student-athletes here at Nebraska who have mastered the art of networking.
Ashley Stone, Nebraska Life Skills Coordinator, served as the keynote speaker and shared her thoughts on the event, “Networking night is a prime opportunity for our student-athletes to learn first-hand from industry leaders what it takes to not only build connections and strong working relationships, but also be memorable and authentic while doing so.” Stone encouraged student-athletes to authentically follow up with others by sending handwritten thank you notes, connecting on LinkedIn with a personal message, and staying in touch at least twice a year.
The event concluded with Christina Fielder, UNL College of Arts & Sciences Director for Advising Services, presenting on the importance of dining etiquette. Following the presentation, the student-athletes practiced their new-found skills while mingling with the professional guests and their peers.
