FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Craig Driver cleared a personal-best 17-5 (5.31m) in the pole vault to lead the Huskers on day one of the Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday.
Driver's clearance on his third attempt won him the afternoon pole vault section and put him at No. 1 in the Big Ten and No. 15 in the NCAA. Driver also cracked the all-time NU indoor chart at No. 10.
Oladapo Akinmoladun took third place in the 60-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 7.74. Akinmoladun, the school-record holder in the event, improved to No. 2 in the Big Ten this season and tied for seventh in the nation.
Jordan De Spong ran the mile in a personal-best 4:10.99 to finish sixth. Moujtaba Mohammed (1:52.46) and Jacob Olson (indoor PR 1:52.54) took seventh and eighth in their 800-meter section.
For the women, Karolina Pahlitzsch took eighth in her 400-meter section with an indoor PR of 54.67. Jazmin McCoy (19-1 1/2, 5.83m) finished 11th in the long jump and Tristen Sharp (59-0 3/4, 18.00m) finished 11th in the weight throw.
The Tyson Invitational continues on Saturday at 11 a.m. For those with access, Saturday's action can be viewed online via live stream on SEC Network+ from 2:30-5 p.m.
Pittsburg State Classic
A group of Huskers traveled to Pittsburg, Kan., for the Pittsburg State Classic on Friday. Elijah Lucy posted a long jump personal best of 24-1 1/2 (7.35m) to finish second in the event.
Reka Czuth won the women's long jump title with a mark of 19-7 1/2 (5.98m). Kari Heck was third (18-9 1/4, 5.72m).
Lizzy Kirby ran the 5,000 meters in 18:22.56, a personal best that earned her ninth place.
Action picks up on Saturday with the running events beginning at 10:30 a.m., and field events starting at Noon.
