Shields Repeats as Academic All-District Selection

Lincoln – Nebraska forward Shavon Shields was honored for his efforts in the classroom Thursday, as he was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ VII team.

Shields, who carries a 3.72 GPA in biological sciences, earned the first-team all-district honor for the third consecutive year, and will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.   Shields, who was a first-team Academic All-American last season, will look to join Beau Reid as the only two-time Academic All-American in Nebraska basketball history. Nebraska leads the nation with 320 CoSIDA Academic All-Americans across all sports.

This is the second off the court honor which Shields received this week, as the senior was named to the NABC Allstate Good Works Team on Tuesday.

The Huskers return to action Saturday afternoon, as they host Penn State. Tipoff at Pinnacle Bank Arena is set for 5 p.m. and a limited number of tickets are available by visiting Huskers.com or calling 800-8-BIGRED.
