Huskers First on First Day of Prairie View Invite

ARLINGTON, Texas - The second-ranked Nebraska bowling team wrapped up a solid first day of play at the Prairie View A&M Invitational, finishing in first place ahead of Stephen F. Austin after Friday's competition at the International Training and Research Center in Arlington, Texas.
The Huskers (50-23), who have won the event in three of its four years, won just one of the team's five Baker format matches (including one bye), but averaged 214.4 to edge No. 8 Stephen F. Austin, which sat in second with an average of 213. No. 3 Vanderbilt held third place with an average of 207.4, while top-ranked Arkansas State was fourth with an average of 204.3.

The tournament features 10 of the top 25 teams in the country, including four of the top five teams in the latest NTCA Top 25 poll.

The Huskers will return to action Saturday at 9:25 a.m. with five traditional matches. NU will begin the day with a match against No. 4 Sam Houston State. The Huskers' opening match against the Bearkats as well as their final match of the day against No. 11 North Carolina A&T will be streamed live on Bowl.com. Friday and Saturday’s combined results will determine the seeding for Sunday’s bracket-play tournament to determine a champion, consisting of one team game and two best-of-seven Baker format matches, with play Sunday set to begin at 8:25 a.m.
