Lincoln – Three Huskers picked up individual event titles and Hollie Blanske won the all-around title, as the 18th-ranked Nebraska women’s gymnastics team defeated Rutgers 195.825-193.075 in front of 3,032 fans at the Devaney Center on Saturday evening.
Blanske’s all-around score was a season high of 39.500. She picked up the floor exercise title for a second straight week, tying her career high with a 9.95. Grace Williams finished second in the all-around with a solid 39.275.
Megan Schweihofer won the first vault title of her career, scoring a 9.90. Williams won her second uneven bars title of the season, scoring a 9.875, and her third beam title of the year with a 9.90 routine.
Rotation One: Nebraska began the evening on vault, scoring a 49.200, its highest vault score of the season. Schweihofer led the way with a 9.90, the highest vault score by a Husker this year. Williams led off for the Big Red and stuck the landing, scoring a 9.85. Blanske scored a 9.85 as well, while Sienna Crouse and Jennie Laeng both chipped in 9.80s.
The Scarlet Knights started on uneven bars, and scored 48.150, led by Michelle Amoresano and Charly Santagado with 9.80s.
Rotation Two: The Huskers moved to uneven bars for their second rotation, and scored a 48.775. Williams led the way with a 9.875, while Blanske pitched in a 9.85. Breen and Madison McConkey both scored a 9.80.
RU second rotation was on vault and scored a 48.750, led by a 9.80 from Nicolette Wilson.
After two rotations, Nebraska led 97.975-96.900.
Rotation Three: NU’s third rotation came on balance beam, with the Huskers posting a 48.950. Williams led the way with a 9.90, while Blanske scored a 9.85 and Breen hit a 9.825 to lead the Huskers. Schweihofer posted a 9.775 and McConkey scored a career-high 9.60 to help the Husker effort.
Rutgers scored a 48.675 on floor exercise, led by Santagado’s 9.775.
After three rotations, Nebraska led 146.925-145.575.
Rotation Four: The Huskers closed the night on floor, scoring a 48.900. Blanske’s 9.95 was the final routine of the night for the Big Red. Breen and Crouse both added 9.825s, while Williams and Schweihofer both scored a 9.65 for Nebraska
RU’s final rotation came on beam, scoring a 47.500. Clair Jones led the way with a 9.775 for the Scarlet Knights.
The Nebraska men’s gymnastics team, competing at the same time as the women at the Devaney Center, defeated Air Force by a score of 434.300—425.950.
The Huskers will return to action next Friday, Jan. 29, against No. 3 Michigan. Competition is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT at the Devaney Center. The meet can be seen in its entirety on NET, with coverage starting at 7 p.m. CT. It will also be shown on Big Ten Network Monday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. CT. The theme of the evening is Light Up the Night, as 1,500 LED bracelets will be given away at entrances.
