Huskers Announce Beach Volleyball Schedule

The Nebraska beach volleyball season will begin on March 9 with the first home competition in the program's four-year existence.

The Huskers will start the season with a closed scrimmage against Missouri Baptist on Wednesday, March 9 at the Hawks Championship Center sand court, where the Huskers practice.

The season picks up on March 17 in Hawaii, where the Huskers will compete for four days before heading to California to finish the season.

On March 17, Nebraska will face Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade at Queen's Beach. The Huskers will compete in the Hawaii Invite with Loyola Marymount, USC and Hawaii on March 18 and March 19 at Queen's Beach before facing Hawaii on March 20 at Hawaii's Ching Complex.

Once in California, Nebraska will play Irvine Valley College and Concordia (Calif.) in Huntington Beach on March 23. The Huskers head to Long Beach to play Long Beach State on March 24, then close the season on March 25 in Malibu against Pepperdine and Cal Poly.

The first ever National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Championship will be held May 6-8, 2016 at the Gulf Shores Public Beach in Gulf Shores, Ala. Nebraska will complete its season in March and will not be part of the NCAA Championship eight-team tournament this season while continuing to evaluate how it wants to proceed as a program.

The Huskers made huge strides in 2015, posting a 6-2 record with both losses coming to the top-two ranked teams in the nation (USC and Hawaii). NU was close to pulling off the upset on No. 1 Hawaii, taking the match down to the final pair. Upon the completion of the Huskers' season, they were ranked No. 12 in the DiG Magazine poll after winning their final six matches.
