The No. 11 Nebraska men’s gymnastics team (0-2) welcomes ninth-ranked Air Force to Lincoln for its first home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 23 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. The Huskers faced Air Force on Jan. 16 at the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. There, NU placed third with a score of 420.300, behind Oklahoma and Air Force.
Sam Chamberlain placed second in parallel bars with his score of 15.15 at the meet. Nebraska also had seven personal-best scores among six different gymnasts. Austin Epperson, Daniel Leal, Antonio Castro, Connor Adamsick, Alex Magsam and Travis Gollott all set new career-highs at the Rocky Mountain Open.
Air Force (1-1) is coming off a second-place finish at the Rocky Mountain Open. The Falcons hosted the event and finished with a team score of 424.700, behind Oklahoma. Junior Tim Wang paced the Falcons with three top-three finishes. In addition to his second-place finish on the pommel horse, Wang also tied for third on the vault with the second-highest score of his career and finished third in the all-around.
Saturday is a co-ed meet with the women’s gymnastics team. The women face Rutgers for a Big-Ten matchup. Both meets begin at 6 p.m. and will occur simultaneously.
