N Club Winter Social Connects and Educates Letterwinners

On Sunday, Jan. 10th more than 75 letterwinner alumni, student-athletes and guests gathered for the N Club Winter Social, held before the Nebraska women’s basketball game in the Club Lounge at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

In a concerted effort to bring letterwinner alumni from all sports together and continue to connect them with Nebraska Athletics, attendees were educated on new and existing programs and initiatives and had the opportunity to network with Development and Life Skills staff and current student-athletes.

Instead of concentrating on the phrase, “There is No Place Like Nebraska,” Diane Mendenhall, Associate Athletic Director for Development and Ticket Operations, introduced attendees to a new phrase: “There is No Student-Athlete Experience Like Nebraska.”

Mendenhall spoke about Nebraska’s drive to lead the nation in having the best resources, programs and amenities for student-athletes, touching on existing programming, such as the nation’s first Post-Eligibility Opportunities Program and the student-athlete laptop program.

Life Skills staff members, including Stacey Burling, Lawrence Chatters, Kayla Conrad, Ashley Stone and Jordan Wilson, expanded on Mendenhall’s words, speaking to programs they have created and coordinate, underscoring the impact they have on student-athletes: No Filter service abroad program, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, career development events, the Diversity and Inclusion Summit and Inner Circle.

Keith Zimmer, Senior Associate Athletic Director for Life Skills and Executive Director of the N Club, wrapped up the event by previewing upcoming N Club and athletic department events.

After the pre-game reception, attendees cheered the women’s basketball team on to victory, defeating the Illinois Illini 73-57.
