Lincoln – Senior Shavon Shields was honored Wednesday as one of the nominees for the 2016 Allstate NABC Good Works Team®.
This distinguished award shines a spotlight on a select group of student-athletes who have shown dedication to service in their communities.
Shields was one of 154 student-athletes across Division I recognized for his efforts in the community. He has been active in the community throughout his Husker career, serving as a keynote speaker for the Sportsmanship Pep Rally, as well as volunteer for Husker Heroes, Ollie Webb and Nebrasketball Buddies Kids Clinics among other activities. In 2015, he was named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship team for his work in the community.
The final 2016 Allstate Good Works Teams will be announced on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016. Five (5) student-athletes selected from NCAA Division I and five (5) student-athletes from NCAA Divisions II and III and the NAIA will be invited to the 2016 NCAA Men’s Final Four and 2016 NABC Convention in Houston, Texas – April 1 – April 5, 2016.
