Senior Lauren Wagner is a native of Roslyn Heights, New York, who has proved to be a leader on the team throughout her Nebraska career.
Wagner is a marketing major, has earned academic All-Big 10 honors in 2015 and is also a two-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll.
Lauren took a break from her rigorous student-athlete schedule to answer some questions so we could get to know her even better.
Q: When did you start playing tennis? What made you want to play?
A: “I’m not sure when I started, but I was very young. Probably around four or five years old. I started because my dad was professional, is a coach and owns many tennis clubs in New York.”
Q: Who has been one person that has helped out through your tennis career and how have they helped you?
A: “My dad is the biggest influence on me out of anyone by far. He always inspired me to work hard no matter what and follow my dreams.”
Q: What is the best thing about Nebraska?
A: “Besides my teammates and coaches, we have amazing facilities.”
Q: What is your favorite team tradition and why?
A: “Whenever someone has a birthday Coach brings a huge cookie cake and we all celebrate!”
Q: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
A: “Teleportation.”
Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: “New York City. I grew up in New York and I’m so excited to work and live there when I graduate.”
Q: If you could meet any one person (from history or currently alive), who would it be and why?
A: “Michael Jordan because he is one of the most iconic athletes of all time.”
Q: Who is your celebrity crush?
A: “Bradley Cooper.”
Q: One bucket list item?
A: “To travel the world.”
