LINCOLN, Neb. - Junior outside hitter Kadie Rolfzen was named Big Ten Player of the Week, and her twin sister Amber Rolfzen was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Kadie Rolfzen earned the first player of the week award of her career after averaging 3.7 kills and 2.5 digs per set in the sweeps of Rutgers and Maryland. Rolfzen hit a career-best .692 against Maryland with 10 kills on 13 attacks. She also added five digs and six blocks. Against Rutgers, Rolfzen had her ninth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 10 digs. Although it's her first-ever player of the week award, Rolfzen was honored as the Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 21 this season.
Amber Rolfzen picked up her second defensive honor of the season, as the junior middle blocker posted 2.00 blocks per set in the sweeps of Rutgers and Maryland. Rolfzen tallied eight blocks against Maryland, the fifth time she's reached eight blocks this season. Rolfzen also had five kills in each match and a combined .360 hitting percentage on the weekend.
