Nebraska Football
Weekly Press Conference

Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Neb.)
Pre-Michigan State

Jordan Westerkamp
Junior, Wide Receiver

On Michigan State
"It's always a big game. They are going to come here and be ready to play. Last year we were there, and I remember last year we started slow and picked up in the second half. They're definitely a beatable team. We're going to have a great game plan this week and we'll be ready for them."

On Michigan State's defense
"They've had some really talented guys in their secondary. They had a couple guys last year that went to the draft. They play a lot of eight-press verse kind of safeties play like it's a cover-eight and they press the outside guys. They're fundamentally really well, really sound. It will be a good challenge for us wideouts this weekend."

On his health
"I'm all good. Football injuries. Shoulders. Just a little sore. Nothing serious."

On Nebraska quarterback Ryker Fyfe
"I thought overall he kept his composure throughout the entire game and kept us going offensively. He made some really good throws. You could tell there was a little inexperience, but overall he played a really good game.

On talking with quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. after the return to Lincoln
"We talked a little bit, but not that much in detail."

On Tommy Armstrong Jr.'s health
"He's good. He's doing good in his rehab and he's getting back, so hopefully he'll be back this week."

On undefeated Michigan State and possibly Iowa teams coming to Lincoln
"We're going to have two real good programs here that are both undefeated so it will be awesome to kind of motivate us to give them a loss because no one else has done it yet, so we are looking forward to these games."

On embracing the underdog role
"I'm sure no one's really going to give us a shot this week to beat Michigan State. They're undefeated even playing some good football teams, but like I said, it's just going to motivate us like crazy, and we're going to have a great week of practice. We're going to go out there and just play our hardest."

On his individual success this season
"I'm not too concerned with my production, whatever it is, I just want to be able to do whatever I can to help this team win. Our season isn't going how we all expected it to go. Moving forward, all we can do is just keep pushing, keep fighting and things will be OK."

On wide receivers Lane Hovey and Jamal Turner
"It was big. Lane had a touchdown and Jamal made some plays. That's huge, with the injuries we've been having, like you said with De'Mornay (Pierson-El) and Alonzo (Moore), they are going to have to continue to step up, and they will. They've been prepared. They prepare well, so I'm not worried about that at all."
