Flynn, Kraeutner Named to Academic All-District Team

Nebraska’s Caroline Flynn and Katie Kraeutner each earned spots on the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District Women’s Soccer Team for District 7 when the teams were announced on Thursday.

Flynn, a junior from Lincoln, Neb., earned first-team honors with a grade-point average of 3.99 in communication studies. A second-team honoree in 2014, Flynn started all 17 games during the regular season this year and led the Huskers with five goals.

Flynn is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and two-time Academic All-Big Ten Team member. Currently serving as the Nebraska Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President, Flynn is a seven-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll member and has twice been named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

Kraeutner, a senior from North Saanich, B.C., collected second-team accolades with a 3.93 GPA in nutrition, exercise and health science. A first-team member in 2014, Kraeutner made 17 appearances this season and scored two goals, while adding one assist.

Kraeutner is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and two-time Academic All-Big Ten Team member. She has earned Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll status on six occasions and has been named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team twice.

The Huskers completed their regular season on Wednesday night by defeating Maryland, 1-0, at Hibner Stadium. Despite not qualifying for the Big Ten Tournament, Nebraska’s RPI Ranking of 42nd and strength of schedule of third nationally make the Huskers a potential NCAA Tournament qualifier. The field will be announced on Monday, Nov. 9 at 3:30 p.m. (CT).
