Weekly Press Conference
Monday, Oct. 26, 2015
Memorial Stadium (Lincoln, Neb.)
Pre-Purdue
Junior Defensive Tackle Maliek Collins
On his World Series prediction
(Maliek is from Kansas City, Mo. and was wearing a Kansas City Royals cap at the press conference)
“I don’t know, man. I’m just supporting my team.”
On his favorite Kansas City Royal
“Lorenzo Cain.”
On how long he’s been a Royals fan
“I’m a bandwagon guy, man (laughs). I just jumped on when they started winning.”
On his thoughts on Saturday’s game after watching the film
“We just got out-executed. Too many big plays, those type of things. We’ve just got to come back today and try to sort those things out and work through those things.”
On his message to the team
“The season will be what we make it. However we intend to go out this upcoming Saturday will basically predict the way our season goes.”
On advantages of playing on the road after a loss at home
“I don’t think it’ll be any different. We’ll just go up there and we’ve got to handle our business. I’m pretty sure Purdue will be trying to handle their business, too. It’ll be whoever plays the best that day.”
On how much he wants to get the seniors to a bowl game
“My goal is to win them all. Whatever that does for the seniors.”
On the defensive struggles in the fourth quarter against Northwestern
“Really, everybody just has to keep doing our assignments, keep doing our jobs. It wasn’t anything different that they gave us in the fourth quarter. The same plays, they just happened to be big plays in the fourth quarter that led to a drive and then they would get close and about to score or within field goal range.”
On the confidence that the defense has
“I think guys are confident in their abilities. You’ve just got to be that guy to make that play to win the game for us. Nobody was able to step up and make that play this week.”
