Nebraska junior middle blocker Amber Rolfzen picked up Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, the conference office announced.
Rolfzen's first defensive award of her career came after recording 16 blocks in wins over Michigan State and No. 24 Michigan last week. Rolfzen averaged 2.0 blocks per set and now leads the Big Ten with 1.54 blocks per set, ranking ninth nationally.
The Papillion-La Vista South product matched her season high of eight blocks in both matches. She also added a season-high 12 kills against Michigan on Saturday.
The Huskers have won six B1G weekly honors this season with five different players recognized at least once. Rolfzen's honor is the third defensive award by a Husker this season, joining Kadie Rolfzen and Justine Wong-Orantes.
