Erika Johnson Earns Big Ten Weekly Honor

Sophomore goalkeeper Erika Johnson captured Big Ten Defensive Player-of-the-Week accolades, announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Johnson helped the Huskers to a win over Ohio State and a tie against No. 12 Penn State over the weekend at Barbara Hibner Stadium. The North Oaks, Minn., native allowed one goal and collected 13 saves in 200 minutes of action. She posted her fourth shutout of the season in the 2-0 win over Ohio State on Sunday. Johnson currently leads the Big Ten with 5.10 saves per game.

Johnson is the first Husker to earn a Big Ten weekly award since Lia Baldo garnered co-freshman-of-the-week honors on Sept. 8.

The Huskers return to action on Friday against Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. (CT) and will be streamed on BTN Plus.
