On bouncing back since the game
“Initially it was pretty tough. The locker room was pretty quiet. I know Alex Lewis stepped up and he was like well we can’t dwell on it, we have to move forward and not let this one game affect the rest of the season. We put a lot of work in the offseason and we can’t let one game ruin everything.”
On hitting the ground running after being out for a couple weeks
“It felt good, right away I felt a little out of shape, but once the ball was rolling I felt pretty good and pretty confident.”
On feeling confident about his position
“I feel pretty confident, especially since when I wasn’t practicing I was in the playbook because when De'Mornay got hurt we switched positions and I had to learn a little more, but I felt pretty confident.”
On making the most of the time while he was injured to get back on the field
“It took a lot of patience. As I said in the past it was like déjà vu. There is no way this could happen again. But I mean I stayed in the training room and did all I could. Glad I could be out there for the first game.”
ON how many days of practice he missed
“I think it was about two weeks, maybe a few days more than that. I don’t know exact days, I’m not sure.”
On Alonzo Moore's performance
“I saw it coming. He has been up here in the past, and I mean Alonzo is playing as confident as ever and everyone saw that Saturday. He got dinged up, which is unfortunate and I knew he was hurting that he couldn’t be out there to continue to play, but I hope he is good to go this Saturday. If not, we understand you can’t push it too much.”
On feeling good about the sweep play that anyone could run it
“I know I had the one reverse and if they would have called a few more to me I wouldn’t have been disappointed.”
On watching his reverse run on film
“Well I got it and was like Tommy (Armstrong Jr.) is my lead blocker on this one. He did what he did, and I was hoping when I lost my balance I wasn’t going to get blasted, but it worked out pretty well. Then Terrell (Newby) put it in right after that so that was good after Nate's (Gerry) big interception.”
On the performance of wide receivers
“I felt (we performed) very well. We didn’t have too many missed assignments. I think we had one or two drops maybe, but as much as we threw the ball I think the guys performed how we thought they would.”
On how it felt on the sidelines with the new staff
“The offense was energetic and got pumped up when they would make plays. Even the coaches, assistant coaches and strength staff, I mean I don’t know if you saw Mark Phillip, he was pumping up the crowd more than anyone else I think. It is always a good atmosphere when you’ve got everyone running around and yelling. It was a fun game to be a part of.”
On his play in the fourth quarter
“You can’t do anything about it now, hopefully next game. I think I'm cursed. I don’t think I can score. It’s not possible.”
On the rotation of the receivers
“Just based on personnel we had different groups going in keeping guys fresh the entire game especially as hot as it was out on the turf. We wanted to keep as many guys fresh as possible. Just different personnel and groups go out there together.”
