Mercurio Wins Canadian Junior Triple Jump Title

EDMONTON, Alberta - Nebraska freshman Angela Mercurio took home the women's triple jump title at the Canadian Junior Track & Field Championships on Saturday. 

Mercurio jumped a wind-aided 40-3 1/2 (12.28m) to top the competition. The Kitchener, Ontario native finished 13th at the NCAA West Regional triple jump in June with a PR 41-10 1/2 (12.76m), missing a bid to nationals by one spot. 

In other action, Nick Percy will take part in the discus at 7:10 a.m. (CT) on Sunday at the British Championships. A native of Ventnor, England, Percy was a second-team All-American in the discus with a throw of 186-7 (56.87m) to finish 15th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. He took first at the England Athletics U23 Championships in June.
