LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska freshman Angela Mercurio will compete at the Canadian Junior Track & Field Championships on Saturday in Edmonton, Alberta, while freshman Nick Percy will throw at the British Junior Championships in Birmingham, England.
Mercurio is the top seed in the women's junior triple jump. She will compete at 1:15 p.m. (CT) on Saturday. The Kitchener, Ontario native finished 13th at the NCAA West Regional triple jump with a PR 41-10 1/2 (12.76m), missing a bid to nationals by one spot.
Percy will take part in the discus at 7:10 a.m. (CT) on Sunday at the British Championships. A native of Ventnor, England, Percy was a second-team All-American in the discus with a throw of 186-7 (56.87m) to finish 15th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. He took first at the England Athletics U23 Championships in June.
