Pair of Huskers Earn Degrees

Andrew House and Robbie Kocks were among the 55 student-athletes who received their diplomas during spring commencement on Saturday, May 9 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena.

House, a second-team CGA Scholar-Athlete, earned his degree in physics on Saturday at the commencement ceremony. The Houston, Texas, native was a leader on floor and pommel horse throughout the 2015 season and was known as one of NU’s most dependable workers. House qualified to the Big Ten event finals on horse, where he finished eighth with a 14.425.

Kocks, a four-time Nebraska Student-Athlete Honor Roll selection, received a bachelors in criminology and criminal justice. Though battling illnesses and injuries in his senior season, Kocks stood out as a natural leader and team captain for the 2015 season. One of NU’s greatest rings performers, the Lawrenceville, Ga., native holds the school record on rings with a 15.60 earned at the 2014 Big Ten Championships. The score came at the event finals, where he took a home the bronze after placing third on the event.

NU’s May 2015 graduates came from near and far to call Nebraska home during their careers. The group came to Lincoln from 20 states, including 14 native Nebraskans. Members of the graduating class also came from Colombia and Jamaica.

Nebraska continues to feature one of the highest graduation rates in the country, while leading the nation in the number of CoSIDA Academic All-Americans (315) and NCAA Top 10 Award winners (17) across all sports.
