St. Louis, Mo.- The NTCA top-ranked Nebraska women's bowling team will compete for its fifth NCAA title Saturday night, as the Huskers defeated Sam Houston State 4-2 in the semifinal round Saturday morning.
The Huskers, who were the No. 2 seeded team after the qualifying rounds, and will take on the winner of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Stephen F. Austin, which starts approximately at 2:30 (central).
Nebraska will compete in its third-straight NCAA National Championship Saturday night, as the Huskers look to win its fifth NCAA championship since the bowling became an NCAA-sponsored sport in 2003-04. The Huskers previously won titles in 2004, 2005, 2009 and most recently in 2013. This will be the seventh time in 12 seasons the Huskers have made it to the championship match.
NU Head Coach Bill Straub was impressed with the overall team performance Saturday, mentioning that he believes that the team is ready to finish off the job tonight.
“The team performed admirably, after a few struggles yesterday, the team really came to play today,” Straub said. “There is no reason they cant carry this into the championship match tonight.”
