The Nebraska women’s tennis team (9-0) prepares to face two ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) ranked teams this weekend as they face the No. 51 University of Denver squad (4-3) on Friday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Lincoln Racquet Club followed by a dual with the No. 29 Wichita State Shockers (10-2) on Sunday, March 1 at noon at the Nebraska Tennis Center.
The undefeated Huskers are coming off a 5-2 win over St. John’s Red Storm on Wednesday in which they earned wins at the No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 singles spots as well as nabbing the doubles point, ending St. John’s undefeated streak for doubles.
Redshirt freshman Spurti Shivalingaiah kept her hot-streak alive with a victory at the No. 4 spot earning her a seamless 9-0 mark on the season while Lisa Andersson earned her sixth straight victory, pushing her to a 7-2 record on the season.
Maggy Lehmicke remains solid at the No. 1 spot, tallying a win over St. John’s Anastasia Polyakova to push the junior to a 6-3 mark on the season.
The Big Red will take on ITA ranked opponents for the first time this season as they face Denver and Wichita State.

Scouting Denver
The Denver women’s tennis team (4-3) will head to Nebraska after coming off a weekend sweep over Nevada and Kansas. The No. 51 Pioneers have won five straight doubles points. This weekend’s dual hosts the fourth meeting between the Pioneers and the Huskers, with Nebraska remaining unbeaten (3-0) in the all-time series.
Scouting Wichita State
The No. 29 Wichita State Shockers (10-2) are coming off a California weekend sweep, earning wins over Fresno State and Santa Clara. The Shockers’ two losses on the season came from No. 18 Pepperdine and No. 31 Oklahoma. Nebraska keeps an 18-11 all-time series advantage over the Shockers.
