On the injury situation
“Everybody has got injuries. Obviously, our best post player is out with an ACL tear, 17 points, six rebounds… but they are missing their player, too. Everybody has got injuries and we’re not using that as an excuse. We just have to play better. When you have 20 turnovers; that doesn’t help you. They had 23 points off of our turnovers… that is giving points away.”
On the positives
“We battled back. We were down a couple times by double digits and tried to make some adjustments which looked like it helped us. We went on a little run and Connie (Yori) had to call a timeout, but you know they went on a run and I had to call a timeout. It’s a game of runs and a game of momentum, sometimes it’s on your side and sometimes it’s on the other side. At the end it’s about who has the last little punch, and they did. Obviously, there is a lot of pressure on the guards when you don’t have that post presence. Our posts are capable; they just didn’t have their game tonight.”
On having the lead in the second half
“They had some lay-ups there where the back screen at the top, got loose and we weren’t communicating very well. I can’t call a timeout every time somebody can’t figure out how to guard something. You go through it, you watch film and it’s up to the players on the court at that time to communicate. If my girl is back screening, you have to yell ‘back screen’. It’s not very hard to me, but I’m not playing. The importance of communication is something we have to do consistently. Sometimes we do it and sometimes we don’t. If you want to win, you will do what it takes to win.”
