Huskers Return to Pool Against Florida Gulf Coast

The Nebraska swimming and diving team returns to the pool on Saturday, Jan. 10, for a non-conference dual against Florida Gulf Coast.  Saturday's meet will begin at 10 a.m. in Fort Myers, Fla., at the Florida Gulf Coast Aquatics Complex.

The Huskers will look to improve on their 4-3 dual-meet record as they return to the pool for the first time in 2015. Saturday's meet will mark the first time the two programs have competed against each other in a dual.  

Florida Gulf Coast enters Saturday's competition with an 8-1 record, including victories over Miami, Georgia Tech and Florida Atlantic.  The Eagles last competed Saturday, Jan. 3, earning victories over Liberty, Campbell and Central Connecticut State.

Following their trip to Fort Myers, Nebraska will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 24, in Champaign, Ill., to take on Big Ten rival Illinois.  That meet is set to kick off at 11 a.m. Nebraska returns home for its final home and regular season meet of the season to take on Washington State in a two-day event at the Devaney Natatorium.  Competition will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 and continue at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31.  Check back into Huskers.com for any and all updates regarding the Nebraska swimming and diving team.

Last Time Out: Huskers Drop Panthers in Fall Finale

The Nebraska swimming and diving team earned victories in 12 of 13 events on its way to a 159-79 victory over Northern Iowa Friday evening at the Devaney Natatorium. Nebraska was led by Cassie Brassard, Taryn Collura, Jordan Ehly and Anna Filipcic each capturing two victories a piece against the Panthers.

Brassard earned her first victory of the day in the 1,000-yard freestyle.  Brassard raced to a time of 10:45.11.  Earning her second victory of the day, Brassard finished in a time of 57.32 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Collura also earned two victories on Friday.  Collura's first victory came in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.71.  Collura also claimed the 100-yard freestyle racing to a time of 51.20.

Nebraska's third multiple event winner of the meet, Ehly, raced to a time of 2:07.48 in the 200-yard individual medley earning a first-place finish.  Ehly also swam to a first-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke posting a time of 1:05.30.

Nebraska's final multiple event winner was Filipcic.  The sophomore earned victories in the one- and three-meter diving events.  Filipcic posted a score of 298.20 in the one-meter and 329.25 in the three-meter.  

Natalie Morris and Katt Sickle also earned individual victories for the Huskers.  Morris claimed her title in the 100-yard butterfly racing to a time of 56.94.  Sickle earned a victory in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.70.

Nebraska swept the relay events.  The Huskers opened up the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay.  The team of Jacqueline Juffer, Ehly, Erin Oeltjen and Alex Bilunas raced to a time of 1:45.39.  Nebraska also earned a victory in the 200-yard freestyle relay.  The squad featuring Bilunas, Collura, Rebekah Land and Bria Deveaux raced to a first-place time of 1:35.77.
