Nebraska Coach Connie Yori
Opening statements
“We lost to a good team today. Maryland is pretty talented. We could’ve played better in the second half. I call these the elephant games, where you play against super-athletic teams. The two things you really have to do, you really have to take care of the ball, and you really have to defensive rebound. Early in the second half we didn’t do either of those and the game got away from us. They made a lot of jumpers. They challenge every shot. We obviously have to play better than we did in the second half. The elephants are what killed us.”
On her concerns
“We haven’t been a great scoring team. We’ve been a better defensive team this year in some ways than I thought we’d be. We haven’t been consistent making shots. When you take a kid like Jordan (Hooper) off your team, now it’s basically our second option becomes our first option. Our third becomes our second. All of a sudden, everybody’s got a little better defender on them. We have to make more layups, I know that. We have to make easy shots around the basket. We have to cash in on easy opportunities a little bit better than we have.”
On moving forward
“We’ll watch film and we’ll learn from it. You have to handle adversity. You have to put this one behind us and figure out how to win this next one. That’s sports. It’s always about the next one. One game at a time.”
Hailie Sample
Senior, Forward
On Maryland's defense
"Well, they played us a lot differently than any other team has payed us so far. They defended the ball screen really well, and we couldn't get much off of it. When we did have something, they were disruptive."
On Maryland's defensive style
"Well like I said on the ball screen. This year we've been playing against a lot of zone and they switched it up on us. They were also doing where they ran a zone for the first part of the shot clock and then they went man-to-man. That was difficult to get into our offense with."
On turning point in the second half
"They came out really hard. We weren't necessarily ready. We weren't as ready as we should have been. They got a jump start in the second half, and we just couldn't come back from that.
On Maryland's inside game
They were probably some of the biggest we have played so far. Really talented and really athletic. Crashed the boards really hard. Boxing out was really hard. I don't know... good players."
On moving forward as an offense before going to Michigan State
"I think we have not been in our normal flow and that has kind of come from having some time off. We had Christmas break and all that stuff, but now we are getting back into it. I think our flow is going to come back."

On successes early in the game compared to second half
"I was attacking more, but then they kind of picked it up. Stopped my drive. Then they pretty much took my shot away. Couple of blocked shots. First half I came out a little fired up then kind of lost the second half."
On moving forward as an offense before going to Michigan State
"Like she (Sample) said. I think we are going to be all right. Two years ago we came out 0-3. It's not how you start, it's how you finish. Every game is important, but we still have 18 more games, or however many games we have left, so it's not too late. We are just going to learn from this. You lose and you learn. What's next."
