Nebraska vs. Maryland
Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015
Pinnacle Bank Arena (Lincoln, Neb.)

Maryland Coach Brenda Frese
Opening Statement
"First of all, we love coming here. To come in here is awesome with their fans for Nebraska are just tremendous. This is a big-time college environment with a team like this, it was really loud tonight. I am obviously really happy and proud of these two sitting up here and Lauren (Mincy) when we were here last was when she tore her ACL, so be able to come in and be able to have the game like she did today was huge. I thought Shatori (Walker-Kimbrough) really helped us in the first half when we were trying to find our groove. I thought Nebraska came out really strong and aggressive. I thought the difference from the first half to the second half was our defense and our rebounding."

On Walker-Kimbrough's performance
"She was ready from the tip. I thought she was really aggressive. She had an attack mentality. I thought she was able to get to the rim easily. She shot the ball with a ton of confidence, she really read the defense. We needed to have her be aggressive and read the defense. I thought she was huge in the first half of doing that."

On how they opened up the second half
"I wish I could say it was this motivating talk in the locker room. But the statement was made by our team. They were ready to play, and I think they used those first 20 minutes to figure out what they needed to do, and they really came out and really dominated in the second half with what they needed to do."

On their defensive performance
"I thought we really did a good job in terms of switching screens and really kind of keeping them off balance in terms of looks. I think we executed really well defensively between our man, between our switches, our zone. It is fun when we are clicking on all cylinders like that."

On if this team is better than previous years on defense
"No question. When we press the way we pressed today when we are really locked in, by far. We haven't been able to throw as many different defenses, so it is really exciting when you talk about all of the different ways we can play."

Senior Guard Laurin Mincy
On the difference between the first and second half

"I think it was rebounding on the defensive end. We were able to get some stops and we were able to get out in transition and we are a very good transition team, so we got a lot of open looks in the second half. People were able to execute down the stretch."

On noticing Nebraska getting frustrated with their defense
"They were speeding up a lot more compared to the first half where they were taking their time and getting open looks. I definitely think our defense frustrated them a little bit."
