Huskers Ranked No. 9 in Preseason Poll

Lincoln, Neb. – The University of Nebraska will once again start the 2015 season ranked inside the top-25, as the Huskers were selected as the No. 9-ranked team in the Preseason Coaches’ Poll.

Nebraska’s No. 9 ranking marks the 16th straight season that the Huskers have been placed inside the preseason top-15 and its fifth straight season inside the top-10.

Four of the top-six teams in the poll are returning Super Six Finalists from last season. The 2014 National Champion Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners took the top two spots, as Florida collected 756 votes to Oklahoma’s 746. LSU was picked No. 3, followed by No. 4 Alabama and No. 5 UCLA. The Utah Utes round out the top-six teams in the nation.

The Huskers were among six Big Ten teams ranked in the top-25 preseason poll with Michigan coming in at No. 8. Illinois was tabbed at No. 15, followed by Penn State (No. 16) Minnesota (No. 17) and Ohio State (No. 19) rounding out a solid Big Ten conference showing.

NU returns two All-Americans in 2015, including senior standout Jessie DeZiel and junior Hollie Blanske. The duo has captured eight All-America honors overall, including five first-team accolades.

The Big Red will face eight teams in their 2015 schedule that are ranked in the preseason top-25 list. Nebraska will open its season on Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. against Lindenwood for the Tumble N’ Rumble combined meet with wrestling in the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
