Nebraska Welcomes Toby Boyer as New Recruit

The Nebraska men's tennis team added two new recruits including Ham Lake, Minnesota native, Toby Boyer. Toby is the brother of Dusty Boyer and has verbally committed to playing for the NU. Head Coach Kerry McDermott is excited to welcome the new recruit and knows he already has a lot to offer the team with the experience he has.

Toby Boyer is a four star recruit and is ranked the No. 2 player in Minnesota and No. 5 in the Northern Section. Last year during the Minnesota High School Championships he was the State Class 2 A runner up in singles play. He will be an addition to the 2015-16 roster.

Nebraska Head Coach Kerry McDermott and his staff are ready to get Boyer training in the new facilities when he arrives in Lincoln.

"What we as coaches like about Toby is tha the actually brings in a wealth of experience in the sense of being able to watch his older brother (Dusty Boyer) growing up and learning from him and then incorperating some of that into his own game and style," McDermott said. "Toby has really good court sense and is a very good mover on the court and is develping a powerful serve that will continue to move his game forward as he plays Division 1 tennis. We also love the fact that he is a very good competitor and wants to follow his brother to Nebraska and wants to move our team up high in the Big Ten nationally! Toby will only get better in the years to come and we are excited to have him join our team and our school here at the Unveristy of Nebraska. He wants to get into our facility and get things going, and we want to help him reach his potential!"

"Both guys I feel are going to shine in our program and they both know that with the new facility, indoor and outdoor, that is goin gup on campus at this time, that next year they want to be part of something big within the Big Ten and nationally for our program and the University of Nraska. We feel that these two kids are a great fit for our team!"
