Life Skills Sportsmanship Pep Rally

The Nebraska Life Skills department is hosting the third annual Life Skills Sportsmanship Pep Rally along with the Nebraska High School Sports Hall of Fame Foundation on Friday, Nov. 7 from 10:30 a.m. until noon at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.

Over 2,000 middle school students attending will hear from Head Women’s Basketball Coach Connie Yori and Volleyball Head Coach John Cook on the importance of sportsmanship, character development, self-esteem and inclusion. Also six Husker student-athlete are scheduled to speak including Emily Cady (basketball), Amber and Kadie Rolfzen (volleyball), National Champion track runner Miles Ukoma, Mattie Fowler (softball) and Tanner Lubach (baseball).

Once all motivational speakers have concluded a UNL musical group, Boots and Cats will perform. Also, a unified Special Olympic basketball demonstration will take place to highlight on the topic of inclusion.

This marks the third consecutive year of the rally which started in 2012 with the inaugural event taking place at Waverly High School and the 2013 program occurring at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
