Dusty Boyer to Compete in Semifinals

Minneapolis, Minn. - Nebraska's Dusty Boyer will compete Monday in the semifinal round of the Big Ten Singles Championship. Boyer will face third-seeded Matic Spec from Minnesota at 9 a.m.

On Sunday, Boyer defeated Matt Hagan of Iowa, 6-2, 6-7, 6-2. Follwing the win, Boyer powered past No. 15 seed Alex Pasareanu, 6-2, 6-4 to earn a trip to the semifinals. 

"Dusty has played to the level that we expect from him until this point and has showed the coaches some good professionalism to this point of the tournament,", Coach Kerry McDermott said. "Tomorrow is a new day and he knows he needs to just continue to play his game and believe in himself and let the chips fall. He just needs to keep his focus and take one match at a time and be ready to step it up as he progresses."

Linus Erhart dropped from competition in a tough match against fourth-seeded John Mullane, falling 7-5, 3-6, 4-6. 

In consolation play, Court Clark faced Michigan State's Jasper Koenen, suffering a 6-3, 4-6, 0-1 setback. Chris Shindler also took a hit, falling 6-7(5), 2-6 to Jeremy Lynn of Minnesota.

Scott Elsass lost in straight sets to Iowa's Andres Estenssoro, 5-7, 2-6, while Bradford Zitsch fell 3-6, 3-6 to Michigan's Davis Crocker. Crocker will go on to play Vasilis Stavropolous Monday.

Stavropolous defeated Nils Hallestrand of Iowa 7-5, 2-6, 1-0. Chris Hobgarski notched a win against Josef Dodridge of Wisconsin, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0.
