Huskers Finish Play at ITA Central Regional

Stillwater, Okla. – Several Huskers participated in the consolation round on Saturday at the ITA Central Regional held at the Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Okla. The tournament hosted over 130 student-athletes and featured some of the top women’s players from around the nation.

Junior Maggy Lehmicke and Sophomore Mary Hanna shined as they won both of their singles rounds in the back draw. Lehmicke began the day with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Ksenisa Pronina of Iowa State. Lehmicke then faced Arkansas Razorback Mia Jurasic and came away with the 7-5, 6-2 victory. Hanna faced Kali Donner of Southern Illinois and battled her way to a 6-2, 6-3 win. She faced Flavia Araujo from the University of Arkansas and came away with the win 6-4, 6-2.

Junior Mackenna Maddox also brought home an NU victory as she defeated Sierra Halverson from Southern Illinois in a 6-3, 6-2 win. Fellow junior, Lauren Wagner faced Razorback Sasha Shkorupeieva but fell short 6-0 in each set while senior Izabella Zgierska lost to Minnesota’s Maja Vujic 6-3, 6-4. Redshirt freshmen Spurti Shivalingaiah and Katerina Matysova both faced defeat in their consolation rounds. Shivalingaiah fell short to Drake’s Mariel Ante, 7-5, 6-1, as Matysova lost 6-1, 6-0 to Southern Illinois’ Lexi Arande.

Next up for the Huskers is the Drake Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa Oct. 24-26 where four Huskers will participate in their last outing of the fall season.
