Pre-Rutgers
Junior offensive lineman Alex Lewis
On the upcoming games and bye week
“When we got off our bye week last week, we talked about how we have six games left with a bye week in between, and we just have to finish strong. It’s something that you’re harped on all winter and all summer, is just finishing. We have to take each game at a time.”
On fellow offensive lineman Givens Price
“Givens Price really stepped up this past week. He had great practices all week. His energy was high. He played with great emotion. He really refined his technique and it transfers over to guys like Chongo (Kondolo) and (Ryne) Reeves. We were able to run with the ball with those guys in and we scored with those guys in the first time.”
On I-Back Ameer Abdullah
“Ameer is such an explosive back. He could break it any time. You just have to basically cover up the guys across from us. It gets the defense back on their heels, and when you get the set up quick, you keep the tempo going.”
On Saturday’s home game against Rutgers kicking at 11 a.m.
“I’m excited. I’m tired of sitting in the hotel rooms watching college football when I want to be playing it. Playing at Northwestern felt like a home game with all the fans there, so that was a great experience. But there’s nothing like playing here. Coming out of the tunnel walk, opening the gates and seeing 90,000 people wearing red, everyone standing and cheering for you. It’s a feeling you can’t explain and sends chills down your back.”
