Lincoln, Neb. – The Nebraska men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete at the Bradley Classic in Peoria, Ill., Friday afternoon at 4:25 pm. The meet will be hosted by Bradley University, and will mark the Huskers last regular season competition before their championship season.
The meet will feature over 900 student-athletes representing 45 universities and colleges in four races. The NCAA Division I teams will line up for the final two races of the day with the women’s 6K red race slated for 4:25 p.m. and the men’s 8K red race wrapping up the event at 5:05 p.m.
Nebraska Head Coach Dave Harris is excited to see what the Huskers can do on the same course they will be competing at for the NCAA Midwest Regional in less than a month.
“I think during this break since our last meet, we have had our best training of the season so far,” Harris said. “Both in volume and in intensity, I think we are ready to go. We are rested and for the most part we are all healthy.”
With the Huskers competing at the same course during the NCAA Midwest Regional on Friday Nov. 14, Harris is more interested in seeing how NU competes against a plethora of other schools.
“I think it is always good, it gives you familiarity to the course. I think it can help us but there are a lot of teams there, so we should have a lot of great competition.”
With around 900 athletes competing, Harris believes the team is well rested to face off with the talent-rich field.
“It has been good to have some rest, it has given some of our freshmen a time to rest and get stronger. The championship season is just ahead of us, so hopefully we can perform at a very high level.”
