Huskers Fall Short in Fourth Round

Tulsa, Okla. - Two of the four duos fought hard to make it to the fourth round of the main draw doubles play. Teams Dusty Boyer and Bradford Zitsch and Linus Erhart and Scott Elsass both made it to the fourth round of their doubles tournament. Both teams fought hard in their last sets but unfortunately came up short. 

Dusty Boyer and Bradford Zitsch started the first round with a win over Minnesota's Saxton and Lynn 8-4 followed by a tough match against Oklahoma State's Sude and Kadhe 8-7. In their third round, the boys pulled a win over Norman and Baker of Creighton 8-4. In their fourth and final round they came up short to another Minnesota duo, Toledo and Corwin who were seeded at No. 6, going 6-8 but putting up a fight. 

Freshman Linus Erhart and junior Scott Elsass began the day with a win over SIU Edwards' Hutchinson and Gaffigan 8-3 followed by a close match against Oklahoma's Ghilea and Papac 8-7. In the third round the boys took on SIU Coarbondale's Rigby and Klanicka in another tough match that also ended 8-7. In their final match, Erhart and Elsass took on No. 2 seeded Minnesota duo, Hamburg and Froment fighting it out but ending 7-8. 

NU's other teams, Mark Herrmann and Chris Hobgarski and Charlie Shin and Andrew Dzulynsky unfortunately did not make it past their first matches. Herrmann and Hobgarski had a close first match against UMKC's Castellano and Psarros 7-8 while Shin and Dzulynsky faced Kerby and Bautista of Tulsa where they went 3-8.
