Lincoln, Neb.- The Nebraska women's bowling team was voted the number one nationally rated team by the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Wednesday afternoon. NU received 11 of the 23 first-place votes in the poll (664 points), in front of second-place Arkansas State (four first-place votes, 613 total points).
Defending NCAA champion Sam Houston State was third with seven first place ballots (572 points), followed by Vanderbilt, which had the remaining first place vote and 542 points.
Nebraska Head Coach Bill Straub thanked the voters for their confidence in the team, but noted the team has a lot of work to do to get where they want to be at, to compete for their NCAA-leading fifth national championship.
